In this edition of your e-News...HELP NEEDED: do the dance!Performer Highlight: Analog DazePerformer Highlight: Breeze & Bayou BlastersWhere's The Cow Cove? You're Encouraged to Anchor Early! This Year's Line-up of MusiciansFly Your Flags! Thanks for all SupportHelp! .. The Fest NEEDS YOU!Us folks on The Wonderful Waters of Wylie aren't afraid to get wet. We're happy to splash around in our beloved lake ... but there's one thing that can put a downer on a good day out on the boat - rain. (And rain REALLY bums out the Fest's sound crew who defend the safety of 3rd Wish Production's equipment like one might protect Old Aunt Flossie's wig in a windstorm.) And so, we've developed a "magic potion" to ward off storms and downpours (altho it rarely works on the scattered pop-up drippy drizzles that frequent hot afternoons around these parts.) The No Rain Dance has worked mostly pretty fine over the years and we ask that you join in to do your part in saving the Fest. Create your own personally-expressive No Rain Dance and do it as often as you can till 2pm on the 14th ... and even during the event itself for good measure. And hey, ..add the chant below for even more ceremonial power! Here's how you can help:Do your NO RAIN DANCE now & repeat it daily up thru 6/14/14Do the dance, do the dance, do that funky funky dance.Do the dance, do the dance, shake your booty, shake your pants!Do the dance, do the dance, don't be shy, no, don't be vain.Do the dance, do the dance NOW, and chase away the rain!!Woo Hoo!!! Performer Highlights:Here're the final 2 fab groups who will be bringing this year's Fest to its rockin' finaleon June 14th ...Analog Daze ... on stage at 6pmAnalog Daze's brand of jangle is less British Invasion and more dusty psychedelia of '80's paisley underground outfits like True West, Green on Red, and the Replacements with modern day counterparts Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Rival Sons, Dawes, Alberta Cross and the acid punk gone country ethos of The Meat Puppets.CRAIG HANKS' fret work comes straight out of The Dream Syndicate's "Medicine Show"SEAN CARROUTH'S guitar lines are more a mix of Clapton's "Slow Hand" and Slash's blistering leads ... and his equally-impressive vocals are reminiscent of Paul Rogers meets Chris Robinson on a five-day bender.JOHN CHRISTENBURY on bass guitar & TOM THOMAS on drums hold down rhythm creating a rock-solid foundation for Craig and Sean to soar overThis band sounds like punk gone country with solid songwriting that will have you humming the tunes long after your ears stop ringing.CLICK on the link over there in the RIGHT column to learn and hear more from Analog Daze! >>>>>Breeze & The Bayou Blasters ... on stage at 7pmLARA "BREEZE" PREJEAN is from the Bayou Country of Southwest Louisiana but now lives in Monroe. In addition to blastin' with his band, Breeze is also a respected music instructor; teaching and offering numerous in-store clinics on technique.RICHARD CURRY is from Scranton, PA where he and the band called the ‘Gonstermachers’. recorded a couple of albums and performed at clubs in the Syracuse, NY area & beyond (including Senegal, Africa!)OLIVER ROWE is from Charlotte, NC. In addition to a nursing career and playing in a variaty of rock band over the years, he's a virtuoso of the Chromatic Harmonica and enjoys performing Classical music.Breeze & The Bayou Blasters kicks out Swamp Infused Classic Rock, Motown, Blues, and Breeze's own style, "AmeriCajun."CLICK on the link over there in the RIGHT column to learn and hear more from Breeze & The Bayou Blasters! >>>>>Where's The Cow Cove? Some folks have written to ask, "Where's The Cow Cove??," and if you aren't familiar with the name, it's because you're new to The River or because you've just never seen Bessie. Now, Bessie has a long and illustrious career here on The Waters of Wylie. She's known for many antics, including holiday & warm weather appearances, police calls, and even headline news. But mostly she's known to overlook a back portion of Boyd's Cove sitting patiently while the rest of us act the fool. Don't know her? Maybe you know her two sidekicks, Jake and Elwood, The Blues Brothers, who sit on the dock at Bessie's place. In any event, ... Bessie and the boys and Lake Wylie Music Fest can be found as indicated on this map:
Anchor Early!Remember that this event is CO-CREATED BY YOU! Your participation and neighborly cooperation fill The Cow Cove with good vibes. As you enter the cove, consider how you can best contribute to what's going on... if you're a big boat with many viewing options, perhaps you want to anchor toward the back of the crowd so as not to block views and sound for other smaller vessels. If you've got your own party music going on, maybe you want to set up at a distance where you're not hindering others who are listening to the acts on stage. And if you intend to dive right into the flow of it all and MAKE the scene, do it! You are not only welcomed but strongly encouraged to, as we keep saying, "let your freak flag fly!" ... and that means have fun and help us all have to have as much fun as we can on June 14th! Bessie urges: Support the MOOO-sicians!This year, we'll have a brief opening celebration around 1:45pm. If you can and want to join in, bring a drum or something to beat on then and during the cove drumming later too! 2pm Underground Detour Band3pm Carson Hill3:30pm Steven James4pm Sonny Skyyz & the Rainmakers4:45pm Kennon Knight leads drumming & singing in The Cow Cove5:15pm The Briarhoppers6pm Analog Daze7pm Breeze & The Bayou BlastersThere will be a brief closing as the music ends. Boats are Encouraged to Fly Flags!Let Your Freak Flag Fly!This year our Fest is on Flag Day so we invite you to fly your flag of choice on your boat. Express your nationality, your originality, your individualtiy with a flag and, as the CSNY song says, “Let your Freak Flag Fly!”A Fun Note: The Crosby-Stills-Nash-Young song that has the line "I'm lettin' my freak flag fly" is called "Almost Cut My Hair" and we've added the lyrics over there in the right column. Plus, we're happy to share, Underground Detour Band is playing this year's theme song!As one Cow Cove resident said, "imagine every boat with a bunch of flags!" Indeed ... imagine a cove filled with colorfully-flagged boats, happy people, rockin' music, and good vibes! Many ways you can support this annual event:Thanks again and again to our supporters ....Lake Wylie Music Fest is an all-volunteer event that's free to the boating public. Thanks to some wonderful sponsors, we are able to have a stage (Yay, Sunbelt Rentals!), a full production sound system (Woo-hoo, 3rd Wish Productions!,) support in getting the word out (Yes indeedy, Pier 88 and Sweetwater Sportsbar!,) garbage clean-up help (We appreciate you, Jay & Sharon Trash!,) and flyers/banners/posters to remind you all what's up (Thanks much, Law Offices of Jason E. Taylor!), plus magical fairies who provide food and drink for our musicians & volunteers! This is the spirit of Lake Wylie Music Fest - folks coming together to enhance the friendly adult fun, individual artsyness, and natural beauty we share here on The Wonderful Waters of Wylie.Help out! ...
